"Hi Gabi!

Here in Mexico the weather is fine. Work is not difficult, my coworkers are simple and nice. In general I have very good impressions, I was pleased to see the local architecture here in Santa Fe. Thank you for the opportunity of enjoying such a nice experience!"

Simion, NM, Work and Travel

"Thank you for the email!I have the Social Security no now and the job is super. I got used to it very easily and I like Gentle Giant very much. See you in fall!"

Yours, Ovidiu Veresmortean-H2B

"Hello everybody!!!I've been here for a month now and I can't believe time flew so fast...I work in Boston at one of the restaurants where I worked last year...I work hard and I don't have too much time, we are 5 in total and the condo has 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. It happens that I don't see the guys for days, let alone my neighbor Amy, whom I see much more rarely. Robi has already got 3 Interstates, this week he's in NY, they are very busy, but won't complain, even if they work 120h every 2 weeks. Cristi and the other 2 guys will take a short vacation from Friday to Monday, they'll go to NY to have fun. So everybody is happy, I don't know about the others, I guess they are all well. I'm happy to see that you keep in touch with us, I hope you have a nice summer, with many projects...."

Alina&Gentle Giant team from Boston-H2B

"hey! I reached the employer safe and sound. It was nice in Chicago, we did not do too much, except for applying for the Social Security, but it was a good experience and I'm happy I chose it. Here at work everybody is very nice (some apparently only) but I've started being comfortable here. The job is very good. They changed me from bookings to activities, clerk. it's fine. Much better than housekeeping and stuff. I'm among the ones who are respected :)) I already finished the training and the manager is content."

Mihai-Work and Travel

"Mihai, what can I say, the first 2 weeks we were paid with 10.5$/h and when we asked the manager he pretended he did not know what we were talking about. Now the pay rate is 11.5$/h. The rent is quite expensive 450$/person, taking into account the fact that the condo is Interstate's property. If you could talk to them to see what they can do. If you ask them why rent is so expensive, they'll tell you we make enough money, we don't have reasons to complain. We'll see what will happen. Me, for example, I've been working at packing ever since I got here. I've had 2 jobs where I moved furniture, the rest is packing..packing." H2B

Dear Mike's Agency,

I'm one of the people who went in America with one of your programs. I have already thanked my parents for the money they lent me, so now I thank you for mediating a job for me, for making it possible to have an unforgettable experience.  Together with Diana, my friend and school mate, we went through a variety of experiences, unique, although sometimes (very rarely-to be more specific) we encountered some difficulties. At the end we did not regret at all.  Grand Canyon, the place we worked, is fantastic! The view, the atmosphere, everything was wonderful; and the coworkers...wonderful people!

The first 2 weeks were a little bit weird, until we got settled in. I must admit that America is totally different from Europe, in many aspects; at first I was shocked but after a short while we got used to it and even enjoyed it! The Americans are friendly people, always ready to help you. They are taught as kids to smile anywhere and at any time. This helps a lot at work because if everybody smiles and is kind, you work in a plesant environment, and you get better too in case you are down. Besides having good company at work, we met plenty of students from all over the world: Bulgaria, Ecuador, Taiwan, China, Jamaica, Mexico etc...They had parties every night and eveybody behaved as if they knew for a long time.

And I was earning pretty well, about 100$ a busser...

We also visited Las Vegas, "the city of entertainment"...where it was like a dream....You can never imagine what you find's amazing! a city of superlatives, which can't be described in words; you need to see it with your own eyes in order to believe it!

America is a whole continent and each state is different, but where I was (Grand Canyon-Arizona and Las Vegas-Nevada) I saw a very beautiful and interesting America, different from Europe.

To sum it up, I had an unforgettable summer, maybe the most beautiful in my life :))

I apologize for not having contacted you ealier, I got back home on October 30th, withing legal limits; from my point of view the programn was super ok, I did a good job and I left a good impression; I intend to come back to the employer, if Mr O'Neil company wants me back, he was very happy with our work, although disappointed with those of us who left the company; I hope that their departure won't affect us! I have a question: me and the other guys we did not get any stamp on the passport at the airport; can it affect us in future? Thank you a lot for all your help and I hope that I will be able to get back to America through your company!

We've intended to write you but we kept forgetting to go to the library, the only place with internet access in Vail, and now that all of us have found a second job we have less time than ever. We got used to it and we like it, Timber Ridge Village is full of Romanians, Bulgarians, Macedonians and Russians, all of them work at the hotels where we work, so we don't miss the Balkanic company:))) The Social Security Number is late and we are told that it's gonna take more than 3 weeks to get it. But as you have already found a second job, it's not a big deal anymore.

We have each other (Cornelia and Simona are here too) and that helps. We met a girl from Bucharest who left shortly after she arrived as she was badly missing her boyfriend. We haven't taken pictures yet, but we have cashed the first paycheck, so the pictures (and a brand new camera) will follow next. We promise to send pictures as soon as we have them.

It's very nice here in Grand Canyon, I'm so happy to be here! People are very nice, willing to help you. The workplace is nice, there is teamwork, if you don't finish your work in time your colleagues will help you out.

Maria-Work and Travel

I'm sorry I haven't written you earlier, but we've been very busy from the very first day we got here. I work as kitchen help and I also help at maintenance; Daniela works as a hostess and housekeeper. It's a lot of work and teh payrate is pretty good; I get 8,5$/h, Daniela 7,5$/h plus tips. The apartment we live in is very big, it has everything, except for internet. All the Americans are smiley and you can never tell what they may think; they say they're happy with our work; probably because we really work compared to other people who happen to be here.

I'll be back with new impressions!

have a nice summer!

Caius-Work and Travel

Hello! We have a nice vacation and we like it here; we are on the beach and at break time we sneak out to the beach; I have 2 jobs at the hotel: housekeeping and restaurant; it's a little bit tiresome but I can handle it. Everything is well and I miss Cluj. I'll write you again when I have time. Have a nice summer! Bye bye!

Doina-Work and Travel

Hello!   We are ok...a little bit tired:)) we have adapted ourselves and we work a lot :)) till now, we only have had one day off (for 2 weeks and some days), work is fine, somewhat boring and the company is undergoing financial difficulties and tries to cut back ;))))no more time now, I'll write you a longer email soon. tye-tye      Vlad Gliga and Dan Mocan-lifeguards Work and Travel    Ciao!   I'm sorry for the late response.. The first impression is a very good one :))! That's why I want to thank you as an agency and as personnel (Gabi and Mihai) for taking care of me, sending me in a place where work and perseverance are appreciated and the employer takes care of every employee. I'm talking here of Olympia Moving&Storage, the company I work for now. Thank you!   Mircea Nutescu
Hello!   We are well. I am happy with the job, because I came here on a busser contract and I was promoted hostess. I get 9$/h, plus 50 cents for every customer who eats in the restaurant. All is well. I finally found a second job, at a coffee shop where I work 35-40h/week. The only thing I don't like is walking to the job place in the morning, as there is no bus at 5 am; we start work at 6 am.   Thank you a lot and we will meet in Cluj after we get back.

I'm back home and I'm writing you because I realised I haven't had the occasion to tell you what a wonderful summer I had this year....

The beginning was quite difficult...discouraging, but after that everything was perfect!
I found a second job where I was paid 14$/h (I worked as a shop assistant in a gift shop), and my bosses were really nice people, very good to me...
I was surprised I met a lot of Romanians there , from Cluj, Bucharest and other parts of the country...and all of us enjoyed this summer!
I'm looking forward to getting back there next year..eventhough I know it won't be the same...(it will be even better :))))

Hi Gabi, I'm happy you've received the documents and now it's ok. Everything is awesome here, we get along very well with the people we've met so far. We've already made friends, especially Romanian ones, there are many of them here. We start working tomorrow. We ate with the staff and it's a very nice environment. We're gonna send you pictures later. We'll work outside, at the pool: Diana at the bar-me at the taverna; we hope everything will be ok.

Thank you again for taking care of us. Take care and keep in touchJ)

Irina and Diana-Greece

It's ok, San Diego is super; we got used to our job.

We want to visit Las Vegas and Los Angeles; there is a lot to visit here in san Diego as well.

The place we live in is very nice...the residential house has swimming pool and Jacuzzi, but before staying here we stayed at a hotel...

So to sum it up: all is all.

We wish you a wonderful summer and we hope we won't get in troubleJ))

It's very nice here...there are a lot of beautiful places to visit...the workplace is nice, I get along very well with my boss, he's Romanian too, anyway we had talked before...I've visited as much as I could: the ocean, which is rather cold, San Francisco...I've made friends here, nice people...I'm gonna send you pictures, my laptop has a bug now, I haven't formatted it yet...I still have the tendency to convert the price in lei whenever I want to buy staff and I realize their living is more expensive...but compared to their wages-it's ok...

Best regards,

Ola kala?
(short conversation in Greek)

Kitchen work is usually busy, which is good and bad, time flies but you're also exhasted at the end of the shift:) I am responsible for breakfast and lunch buffet and Alexandra is in charge of breakfast and cooks on the restaurant grill in the evening. I also worked as a dishwasher sometimes, it was for a while as they badly need us here as prep cooks. It's quite hard to get a dayoff as our colleagues have to work extra to replace us.  We get bored in our free time because we work in different shifts and we hardly get to see each other. I usually work from 7 to 3-4 PM and Alexandra from 2-3 PM to 11 PM.  We live at 5-6 km away from the closest town (Agios Nikolaos) and buses run accoring to a schedule that is not respected, so we don't go out very often. We don't have a TV in the room, we did not find a good price laptop so far, so I spend my time reading again one of the 4 books I brought with me or making puzzle. And Alexandra either sleeps or makes puzzles:))

It's very hot here, we don't sleep well at night; the good news is that we don't get bitten by mosquitos yet:))
The beach is very beautiful and clean, we've got a nice tan; water is clean like the sky above it:))
Greetings! Enjoy the good weather(rainy I heard) home!

Cristi and Alexandra
